Arthur's Exotic Animals out of Florida operate the petting zoo and elephant rides on Circus Vargas. This unit has been with the Vargas show for several years and have a beautiful clean operation. They are currently also doing the elephant act on the show. Vargas owns a heard 6 elephants but they are rented out to a show in Mexico. In California where this show plays most of the year, they are plaqued by Animal Rights protestors at ever city. But Animal Rights folks can find little fault with the way animals are treated on this show.

The Circus Vargas tents are made by Scola Teloni of Italy and are blue and yellow vinyl material. The previous big top on this show also made of vinyl lasted for six years and is still kept in winter quarters as a back up. This tent was two years old when these photo's were taken in 2002. This is a flashy enterence the stars all light up and there is a portable generator with lights just to left of the tent and light up the front at night. Some concessions are sold in the marquee tent however the carnival style food concession trailer is parked just outside of the marquee. Circus Vargas does not sell a printed program and that is something I as a circus fan miss.

This photo was taken late in the afternoon just before doors opened. The petting zoo has sidewalls up and on the midway is a carnival ride that is show owned. Carson and Barnes is carring a similar ride on their show.

This was shot at 9:15 am and is a look at the front end of the show. The marquee tent is up and waiting for sidewalls. Note the small spool trailer to the right. The marquee is transported on that spool with the poles. The windows on the concession trailer are up and the signs are being put into place, in the background you can see Arthur's Exotic Animal petting zoo and Elephant rides tent up. The bus is part of Arthur's Animal exhibit.

Its 9:15 and the marquee tent is up waiting for sidewalls. The windows are up on the concession trailer, in the background Arthur's Exotic Animal tent is up and the animals are being placed inside. This area is also used for elephant rides. Note the spool on small trailer to the right of this picture. It is used to roll up the marquee tent for transport.
