These videos may be borrowed from the CIRCUS FANS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA, Education Committee, by schools for use in teaching about the circus. Borrowers are asked to pay return postage and to return the videos as soon as they are used. (30 minutes) 200 YEARS OF CIRCUS IN AMERICA A history of the circus in America, from its earliest beginning to the present. Includes rare archival footage as well as interviews with circus people (95 minutes) ALL AMERICAN MUD SHOWS Vols. 1 & 2. these two videos capture a number of small to medium size circuses that operated in the 1950's through the 1980's. (2 hours per tape) ALPHABET FACTORY AT THE CIRCUS Spend a day at the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus. See the big top go up. Get a behind the scenes look at the circus. This video is good for ages 2 and up. BARNUM'S BIG TOP The video tells the story of the circus in its golden era, the last of the 19th century and the early 20th century. Using archival films, photographs and interviews, the video examines America's love affair with the circus. BE A CLOWN - I A trip behind the scenes at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College. Learn about make-up and clown skills from two master clowns. (80 minutes) BIG CATS OF THE BIG TOP See some of the greatest lion and tiger acts of all time and meet legendary trainers Gunther Gebel Williams and Wade Burck. (60 minutes) CANINE CUNNING Famed dog trainer, Eric Braun, and his family teach you how to teach your dog to do circus tricks. (60 minutes) CIRCUS NOSTALGIA NO. 1 Shows the Sarasota winter quarters of Ringling as well as several circuses of the 1930s. Also featured is a "You Are There" TV segment on P.T. Barnum. CIRCUS NOSTALGIA NO. 2 This video starts with scenes from the Buffalo Bill-Pawnee Bill show and ends with a comedy piece of the Marx Brothers singing "Lydia, the Tattooed Lady." (60 minutes) CIRCUS NOSTALGIA NO. 3 Opens with the Barnes/Sells-Floto show in 1938 and ends with a great piece on circus greats Alfredo Codona and Antionette Concello (60 minutes) CIRCUS with Emmett Kelly and MAN ON THE FLYING TRAPEZE with George Plimpton These are two one-hour programs that originally appeared on television. In CIRCUS, Emmett Kelly serves as narrator for a look at the tented circus. In Man on the Flying Trapeze, Plimpton learns how to fly while traveling with the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus. (120 minutes) CIRCUS WORLDS This tape has footage of the now defunct Circus World in Haines City, FL, and the Circus World Museum in Baraboo, WI. It shows two different operations and it is interesting to compare the two. ELEPHANTS AND CHERRY PIE This is an Emmy Award winning film about the Carson & Barnes Circus. This behind-the-scenes documentary spends 24 hours with the big Carson & Barnes 5-Ring Circus. HAVE YOU MET OUR FOUR LEGGED FAMILY Introduces you to the animals that work in the circus. See how they are cared for in a behind the scenes look at the Carson & Barnes Circus. MODERN DAY CIRCUSES This tape has footage of the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus, Circus Vargas, the L.A. Circus and the Pickle Family Circus. The first two are tenters; the other two play outdoors. QUEEN OF THE ELEPHANTS Embark on a 300 mile journey with author Mark Shand and Parbati Barua, India's only female elephant driver and trainer. This excellent video shows the plight of the Asian elephant as its habitat shrinks. It also points up the long working relationship of man and elephant in India. RINGLING BROS. AND BARNUM & BAILEY CIRCUS 123rd EDITION This shows highlights of the 1993-1994 show. This show featured kids in the performance. The end of the video has some excellent shots of the two baby elephants born in captivity. Also included, are shots of the circus train and the circus schoolroom. RINGLING-BARNUM #1 Scenes of the famous circus in the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's. RINGLING-BARNUM #2 More scenes of this famous circus in the 1940's, 1950's, and 1960's. RINGLING-BARNUM #3 More historical footage of this show with scenes from the 1930's through the 1970's. The latter includes some great Ringling shows in buildings. RUN AWAY WITH THE CARSON & BARNES CIRCUS This video gives you the chance to meet the people who make up the circus. SPONSORING A CIRCUS This is a four-set package of videos that show you how to go about sponsoring the Carson & Barnes Circus. THE MOSCOW CIRCUS -- ANIMALS UNDER THE BIG TOP This video, like the previous one, shows animal acts of the Moscow Circus -- monkeys, elephants, horses, seals and more. (30 minutes) THE MOSCOW CIRCUS -- DANCING BEARS AND MORE This film features animals and their trainers from the world famous Moscow Circus. Included are Cossack riders, dancing bears, camels, and more. (30 minutes) THE MOST DEATH DEFYING ACTS OF ALL TIME Rare film footage reveals circus history's most incredible acts. Several modern-day thrill acts are also featured. (60 minutes) WINTERQUARTERS This award winning film shows several modern circuses as they get ready for a new circus season. This is an interesting and seldom seen aspect of the circus.
