EMMETT KELLY TENT NO. 41 AND THE CFA PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES THE 2007 PHOTO CONTEST

The 2007 Al Thomas Memorial Photo Contest will again be sponsored by CFA Tent No. 41 and the CFA Public Relations Committee. The co-sponsored event in 2006 was an outstanding success with 107 entries entered into the contest.  The contest has been held for 16 years in honor of CFA Member Al Thomas who was an expert photographer and enjoyed shooting pictures of circus activities.

According to Daniel Rohrer, Tent 41 Vice President, “We are looking forward to another banner year for this contest. I hope that we can top the 107 entries entered in last year’s contest.”

The photo contest is open to anyone who would like to enter. There is no limit on the number of photos that one may submit. Entries must be 5” x 7” color photos of a circus subject. The entries can be from any time period or event. Entries are due by August 31, 2007 and should be sent to: Edward W. Limbach, 332 Inwood Trail, Aurora, Ohio 44202.

The winning entries will be awarded at the annual banquet of the Emmett Kelly Tent in October 2007.  Date of banquet to be announced later.

Ed Limbach, CFA Director of Public Relations and Media said that awards will be given for first, second and third place entries. In addition there will also be honorable mention awards given. Limbach said that he was hopeful that members of the youth circus community would submit entries in this year’s contest. The photo contest is an easy and fun way for CFA members and youth circus members to participate in the activities of the Association.

William Wahl of Columbus, Ohio will be this year’s contest judge. He has won several awards for photography presentation including the Council for Advancement and Support of Education Grand Award. He has judged the Ohio State University’s Faculty and Staff photo contest and the Photo Journalism competition. We are honored to have Wahl judge this year’s contest.

Entries from the 2006 photo contest will be on display at the 2007 CFA Convention.
