The proposed bill to ban the use of the elephant guide tool in Maryland was defeated.
The Anne Arundel (Maryland)
County Council held a public hearing last night regarding a proposal
which would have banned the use of elephant guides – and in effect would
have prohibited circuses with elephants from visiting the county, and
would have put a stop to elephant rides at the Maryland Renaissance
Festival.
Fortunately, the council voted 4-3 to defeat the ban. Thank you to everyone who contacted the Anne Arundel County Council prior to last night’s hearing! Mary Lou Kelly CFA Grassroots
