Performances & Social Programs
In the summer of 1996, the Professional Theatre Company was formed by graduates of the Escola Profissional de Artes e Oficios do Espectáculo (Professional School of Performing Arts and Stage Management), in which an artistic language of its own was to be solidified. Theatre was to be articulated with music, dance, movement, and different circus techniques.
The cultural and artistic vocation lies in the nature of Chapitô itself. We have obsessions: the performing arts in its disciplinary crossings, the circus, the inovation of ancient arts of the party and the joy, engagement in the multicultural pluridialogs and, over all, the renovation of urban and metropolitan sociabilities.
Which are the main axes of the cultural area? The tent (for shows and performances), the professional theatre company, the Audiovisual Production, the Resource Centre and Library, beyond the internal events and the frequent participation in external events. During the last 10 years, there have been produced many performances, exhibitions, debates, concerts, cinema sessions, workshops, and great events, where we can detach those dedicated to african cultures.
