2011 Edith Johnston Fund Grants

May 25, 2011
To: CFA Board of Directors
From: CFA President Maxine House
Re: 2011 Edith Johnston Fund Grants

Every year the CFA Board of Directors votes for grants to youth circus organizations using the income from the generous donation of the Edith Johnston estate.  This year a committee of four CFA members (Pat Pagel, Eric Brown, Paul Holley, and Shirley Adams) and Phil Krahn, serving as secretary/treasurer, handled all the details.  Clark Beurlen and I served ex officio.

For 2011 there was $1,900 in income and three applications for grants: Circus City Festival, Inc, Peru, IN; Wenatchee Youth Circus, Wenatchee, WA; and Openair Circus, Somerville, MA

Although the three groups requested differing amounts, it is the recommendation of the committee that each group receive one-third of the income, $633 each.  The remaining dollar would be returned to the principal.

The BOD must vote on this recommendation before any announcement of recipients or distribution of money takes place.  Any questions you have should be directed to Phil - ringmaster64@comcast.net

Please send your vote to me, using the “reply” button BEFORE Friday, June 3.  That is the same day as your vote on accepting the proposed budget it due.  Let’s get 100% response!

Sincerely,

--maxine

Dear Phil,

The votes for the 3 recipients of this year's EJF grants have been tabulated: 21 ayes, 0 nays, & 3 no reply.  You can now move ahead with your letters of announcement and on an article for the WTs.

I want to thank you and your committee for your work this year on the committee.
