CIRCUS RELATIONS COMMITTEE REPORT 2010-2011

The combined members of the Circus Relations Committee visited over 22 different
circuses during the last year. Committee member, father Dick Notter alone visited 17
different shows.

The purpose of the committee is to act as a liaison between the Circus Fans Association
and members of the circus industry. It is also the goal, whenever and wherever possible,
to lighten and brighten the days of circus families. During 2010-2011 the committee
consisted of four members; Rich Deptula, Father Dick Notter, David Orr and Don Curtis.

The list of services, aid and good times provided to circuses by these members was
particularly impressive this year considering that none of our activities were associated
with Tent functions, but were done solely on an individual member basis.
The following is a partial list of activities performed by CRC members:
  • -Took circus personnel on errands.
  • -Volunteered in ushering.
  • -Participated in World Circus Day.
  • -Took circus people to doctor’s appointments, clinics and hospitals.
  • -Assisted in locating housing and care for retired circus people.
  • -Offered help to visiting foreign circus performers.
  • -Sent birthday and sympathy cards to performers on several occasions.
  • -Provided photos to perfonners and staff for scrapbooks, Christmas cards and facebook.
  • -Made hospital visits.
  • -Volunteered in the cookhouse.
  • -Assisted in booking acts. . '
  • -Administered to the circus community, particularly during times of stress and hardship.
  • -Contacted and offered help to a circus following a blowdown.
  • -Provided religious services and baptisms.
  • -Provided dinner for entire circus staff and performers. .
The committee is always open to suggestions from the CFA members of things that we
can do to improve the already positive relationship that we enjoy with circus people. It is
all about what we can do for them.

Chairman, Circus Relations Committee
