EDITH JOHNSTON MEMORIAL TRUST

2011 GRANT RECIPIENTS
AND ANNUAL REPORT

The Edith Johnston Memorial Trust received three requests for grants in 2011.  The trust earnings, after expenses, of $1,900.00 were available for these grants.  The trust legal notice is published elsewhere in this issue of White Tops.

The applications were reviewed by the five trust committee members: Maxine House, Pat Pagel, Shirley Adams, Paul Holly and Eric Brown.  After two ballots consensus was obtained to recommend to the CFA Board of Directors that each of the requestors receive $633.00.  The CFA Board of Directors approved this recommendation and funds were transferred to the CFA Executive Secretary/Treasurer Cheryl Deptula to send checks to:
Circus City Festival, Inc.    Peru, Indiana
          Wenatchee Youth Circus    Wenatchee, WA
          Openair Circus, Inc             Somervville, MA

The committee congratulates the three recipients of the 2011 grants and thanks them for complying professionally with the application guidelines in their requests.

The committee urges any circus-oriented organizations, engaged in circus activities in keeping with the purpose set forth in Paragraph 1, Article II of the CFA Constitution, to consider applying for a grant in 2012.  Amounts available for 2012 grants will not be known until April 30, 2012 when the current fiscal year ends.  An application form will be included in the Jan/Feb 2012 White Tops.

Since 2000 the trust has provided twenty-one (21) grants totaling $16,799.00.  Despite the recent erratic financial market our investments increased by $1,571.24 during the fiscal year.  The original bequest of approximately $88,000.00 is now worth $105,415.00 and earnings have provided grants of $16,799.00.

The committee extends our appreciation to Shirley Adams who has served as a responsive committee member for the last four years.
