Inspecting the Midway

Submitted 6/9/2012 1:59:07 PM by Bruce Anderson

Would you work for this circus owner? Hundreds did during the 9-year run of Circus Kirk, the only all-student, 3-ring, traveling, tented circus. The founder, owner, and manager was Dr. Charles W. Boas, pictured here inspecting the midway during the 1972 season. Behind him is the pit show, which featured exotic jungle animals. "Doc" held the student crew to high standards but a man of generous heart, also opened doors for them in numerous ways, including encouraging many to pursue their circus careers. Photo courtesy of Bruce Anderson who trouped with the show during the 1971 and 1972 seasons.
